Heat Sealable film comes in a variety of forms and guises.
Usually you have a base layer substrate such as PET against which a heat seal layer has been applied. The heat seal layer can be applied through a lacquering process or extruded or laminated on to the base layer. Alternatively alternate layers of heat seal and supporting layers can be extruded at the same time to form a multi-layer co-extrusion.
Heat sealable film is used in a variety of applications including:-
Lidding film – where the film is heat sealed to a pot, tray or base web
Flow wrap – where the film is sealed to itself to form a package. These packages can be manufactured inline by the customer or purchased as a premade pouch.
Pre cut lids – where the film is cut into predefined shapes that are later heat sealed to a pot or tray
Base web – where material such as APET with a co-extruded heat seal layer can be thermoformed on a customer’s filling line to create a tray. The thermoformed tray then has a readymade heat seal layer against which a lidding film can be applied.
Quantum Packaging can supply all of the above packaging formats. For further information, click on one of the images below, or alternatively visit our main website: www.quantum-packaging.com.
Our flow-wrap films have been designed for use on form-fill-seal (FFS) machines. The lower capital investment outlay ensures that FFS film is competitive against pre-made pouches and other forms of packaging.
Form-fill-seal film is supplied in either reel or tubular form, may be laminated and can be printed in up to 10 colours using flexo or rotogravure technology. Barrier options available.
Bottom web, thermo-formed flexible film is used to create trays in-line. We have developed a sophisticated range of both shallow and deep draw high barrier bottom webs. Our range included a variety of PET, PVC, PP, PE and PS base webs. All of which can be peelable or non-peelable.
We have a wealth of experience in pre-cut or die-cut lids / diaphragms. Our lidding materials include Aluminium, PET, Paper, Laminate, Co-Ex Aluminium and Co-Ex PET. It was our first area of specialism many decades ago. Over that time, we have created a broad portfolio of lidding products that allows us to manufacture a die-cut lid that will seal to nearly every base substrate. Retortable die-cut lids are also available.
We can offer a wide range of standup bags/pouches, including vacuum bags, pouches with a spout or even include a zipper for ease of re sealing.
It is possible to print our flexible pouches in either flexo or gravure to give them the stand out appearance required.
Our Top-Web films are either laminate, extruded or heat-seal lacquered flexible packaging solutions. We can adjust the specification to include a high barrier and/or anti-fog and ensure it withstands retort or is ovenable and microwavable. Seal strength can be tailored to provide easy to strong peels or a weld seal if required. We can seal to the majority of base substrates with low levels of product wastage.
We have a wide range of laminated aluminium foil wrap for retail packaging of dairy butter and margarine in blocks, sticks and rolls. Some of the most common constructions we offer include: ALU/Wax/Paper, ALU/Glue/Paper and ALU/PE/Paper/PE. A variety of embossing patterns is available.
